Release: Commerce’s NTIA Urges Federal
Partners to Help Reach Targeted Communities about the
DTV Transition:
NTIA hosted a meeting with more than 15 other
federal agencies to further coordinate efforts to educate
the nation about the February 17, 2009, deadline to transition
to digital television. “These partners are particularly
important in reaching the communities most at risk for
losing television broadcasts,” said NTIA Acting

Press Release: Commerce's NTIA Certifies More Than 250 Retailers and 19 Converter Box Models for TV Converter Box Coupon Program: The U. S. Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced today at the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow that more than 250 retailers, representing more than 15,000 outlets nationwide, are certified to participate in a program to aid in the transition to digital television. Also, 19 converter box models are eligible for purchase with the coupon and more are being tested as part of the certification process. (NTIA) announced today that seven of the largest
consumer electronics retailers -- Best Buy, Circuit
City, Kmart, RadioShack, Sam's Club, Sears, Target,
Wal-Mart -- have been certified to participate
in the TV Converter Box Coupon Program along with
more than 100 other retailers, representing more
than 14,000 stores throughout the nation, and additional

a contract to provide services for the Digital-to-Analog
Converter Box Coupon Program, which is designed to
help all Americans receive free, over-the-air television
when full-power television stations cease analog
broadcasting after February 17, 2009. Federal

On Tuesday, September 25 at 9 a.m., NTIA will hold
a Public Meeting, Expo and Networking Event in the
Commerce Department auditorium and lobby.

Coupon Program Public Meeting: NTIA held a public meeting on Monday, March
19, in connection with its Digital-to-Analog Converter
Box Coupon Program described in the Final Rule that
was recently adopted. A webcast archive of the event
is being prepared.

NTIA Issues RFP: NTIA has issued a Request for
Proposals to provide services in support of the Digital-to-Analog
Converter Box Coupon Program authorized by section 3005
of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005. NTIA
