Reinvestment Act investments to help bridge the technological divide, boost
economic growth, create jobs, and improve education and healthcare across the
country. The investments, totaling $482.4 million in grants, will fund projects
that pave the way to bring enhanced high-speed Internet access to millions
of households and businesses and link thousands of schools, hospitals, libraries,
and public safety offices to the information superhighway. (278 KB PDF file) Press Release: ITS Launches Its First Telecommunications Science Video Series for the Public: The Institute for Telecommunication Sciences (ITS), a division of NTIA, released a collection of online training and educational videos for public viewing. These videos cover telecommunications topics ranging from an easily understandable review of the fundamentals of radio spectrum — such as defining decibels using common logarithms — to in-depth explanations of complex engineering issues like resolving signal-interference problems. Non-Federal License Applications Being Coordinated with NTIA: Non-federal users can now check the status of their spectrum applications going through coordination with NTIA/IRAC (those for federal/non-federal shared bands). Where NTIA/IRAC has completed its response, the applicant should contact the FCC regarding any further action that may be required concerning the NTIA/IRAC response.
