Press Release: Secretary Gary Locke Announces Recovery Act Investments to Expand Broadband Internet Access and Spur Economic Growth: U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke announced 35 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act investments to help bridge the technological divide, boost economic growth, create jobs, and improve education and healthcare across the country. The investments, totaling $482.4 million in grants, will fund projects that pave the way to bring enhanced high-speed Internet access to millions of households and businesses and link thousands of schools, hospitals, libraries, and public safety offices to the information superhighway.

Press Release: ITS Launches Its First Telecommunications Science Video Series for the Public: The Institute for Telecommunication Sciences (ITS), a division of NTIA, released a collection of online training and educational videos for public viewing. These videos cover telecommunications topics ranging from an easily understandable review of the fundamentals of radio spectrum — such as defining decibels using common logarithms — to in-depth explanations of complex engineering issues like resolving signal-interference problems.

All "What's New" Announcements...


Non-Federal License Applications Being Coordinated with NTIA: Non-federal users can now check the status of their spectrum applications going through coordination with NTIA/IRAC (those for federal/non-federal shared bands). Where NTIA/IRAC has completed its response, the applicant should contact the FCC regarding any further action that may be required concerning the NTIA/IRAC response.
