Subject: Internet Governance

The Internet is just another medium of the public sphere, and as such it should be possible for anyone to freely post their comments, concerns, beliefs, and values without the fear of reprisal or endangerment to their life. The Public Sphere was the foundation of society, that was intended to allow the people to scrutinize and discuss the decisions of corporations and the government. But in more recent times, this public sphere has increasingly begun to diminish. The Internet stands as one of the last few ways for people to freely and relatively anonymously communicate with one another. The government needs to ensure that the people's freedom is protected, and it's time that the government start allowing individuals to post what they want, when they want. During the beginning if the Iraq War, several blogs debating or questioning the Bush Administration were censored, removed or the author's visited by police under the explicit request of the Government or the parties elected therein.
