Wally Bowen is president of the Mountain
Area Information Network and founder/executive
director of Citizens
for Media Literacy, an organization promoting citizenship
and civic participation via citizen access to the media
environment.
Before founding CML in 1991, Bowen was News Bureau
Director for the University of North Carolina at
Asheville, where he coordinated media coverage throughout
the state and the 22-county region of WNC. He has
also served on the board of directors of public radio
WCQS-FM, "The Mountain Air Network."
