Wendy Deutelbaum, Ph.D., is President
of North Light, a company that specializes in developing
easy-to-use Internet tools for connecting individuals,
communities, institutions, and government. She is a family
therapist, adjunct Associate Professor at the University
of Iowa School of Social Work and former professor of
Comparative Literature.
As Co-Director of the Institute for Family Support
and Development and Associate Director of The National
Resource Center on Family-Based Services (Children's
Bureau, DHHS), Wendy managed large training, research
and technical assistance projects over a period of
10 years and provided training and consultation on
family-centered practice and organizational development
to states and counties, foundations, and community-based
organizations in more than 40 states.
She assists communities with the work of planning
and implementing The Resource House, a software tool
that helps people create a confidential personal
data record that can be used automatically to sign
up for services, and service providers can receive
these applications via fax, e-mail, or direct data
download from the Web, and has brought her interest
in narrative and dialogue to the design of the interface.
