Wendy Deutelbaum, Ph.D., is President of North Light, a company that specializes in developing easy-to-use Internet tools for connecting individuals, communities, institutions, and government. She is a family therapist, adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Iowa School of Social Work and former professor of Comparative Literature.

As Co-Director of the Institute for Family Support and Development and Associate Director of The National Resource Center on Family-Based Services (Children's Bureau, DHHS), Wendy managed large training, research and technical assistance projects over a period of 10 years and provided training and consultation on family-centered practice and organizational development to states and counties, foundations, and community-based organizations in more than 40 states.

She assists communities with the work of planning and implementing The Resource House, a software tool that helps people create a confidential personal data record that can be used automatically to sign up for services, and service providers can receive these applications via fax, e-mail, or direct data download from the Web, and has brought her interest in narrative and dialogue to the design of the interface.
