John Feinblatt is the Director of the Center
for Court Innovation, the research and development
arm of New York State’s Unified Court System.
The Center, a recipient of an Innovations in American
Government award from the Ford Foundation and Harvard’s
Kennedy School of Government, has developed national
models for adjudicating neglect cases and quality-of-life,
domestic violence, and drug crimes.
The Center’s first project, New York’s
Midtown Community Court, which Mr. Feinblatt directed
from 1993 to 1996, is the model for over twenty community
courts currently being established nationwide. The
Midtown Community Court has received numerous awards,
including the Justice Achievement Award from the
National Association for Court Management, and first
prize for innovative use of technology at Windows
World Open.
Mr. Feinblatt has also served as the acting executive
director and deputy executive director of Victim
Services, the Country’s largest victim assistance
organization; as a public defender at New York City’s
Legal Aid Society; and as a Research Associate at
the Vera Institute of Justice. Mr. Feinblatt serves
on numerous boards and advisory committees, including
the Bowery Residents’ Committee, which he vice-chairs,
and the Association of the Bar of the City of New
York’s Council on Public Service.
John Feinblatt received his Juris Doctorate from
the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University, Washington,
DC, and his Bachelor's Degree with High Honors from
Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut. |
