Jennifer Brandon is Executive Director of
Community Technology Institute. She joined CTI in 1996
as the Program Manager and together with CTI Founder Patricia
Barry replicated CVM sites across the country and directed
the fledgling Community Voice
Mail Federation (CVM).
Brandon succeeded Barry as Executive Director in
May, 1998. Since then she has concentrated on increasing
access to CVM in both urban and rural communities,
strengthening the collaboration among CVM sites, and
increasing the presence of CVM in state and national
telecommunications policy. She currently serves on
the Washington State Attorney General’s Citizen
Advisory Committee to Public Counsel and leads the
in its mission to provide homeless and poor people
with basic, reliable telecommunications in order to
regain self-sufficiency.
Prior to coming to CTI, she worked as an employment
counselor for deaf and hard of hearing people, a job
that spurred her interest in working to improve the
social services delivery system. She graduated with
honors from Wesleyan University where she studied sociology
and music.
