Public Comments: NTIA Comments on National Broadband Plan: NTIA filed a letter addressing the public safety, homeland security and cybersecurity elements of the National Broadband Plan being drafted by the FCC. (Adobe PDF 229 Kb) Public Comments: NTIA Comments on Requests for Waiver of the FCC's Rules in the 700 MHz Band: NTIA filed comments on requests for waiver of the FCC’s rules in PS Docket No. 06-229, Implementing a Nationwide, Broadband, Interoperable Public Safety Network in the 700 MHz Band. (Adobe PDF 139 Kb) A National Plan for Migrating to IP-Enabled 9-1-1 Systems prepared by the National E9-1-1 Implementation Coordination Office, September 2009: In the New and Emerging Technologies 911 Improvement Act of 2008 (NET 911 Improvement Act), Congress tasked the National E9-1-1 Implementation Coordination Office (ICO) to develop “a national plan for migrating to a national [Internet Protocol] IP-enabled emergency network capable of receiving and responding to all citizen-activated emergency communications and improving information sharing among all emergency response entities.” The ICO, managed jointly by the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), drew upon three years of research and development on Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) technologies, available industry resources and feedback from emergency communications stakeholders in preparing this plan. (PDF 714 Kb) Report: 1710-1755 MHz Spectrum Band Relocation: NTIA has released the Second Annual Progress Report on the Relocation of Federal Systems from the 1710-1755 MHz Spectrum Band, which details progress from the
commencement of relocation activity in March 2007 through December 2008. This is the first federal spectrum band selected for relocation pursuant to the Commercial Spectrum Enhancement Act.
