Press Release: Commerce Awards Recovery Act Broadband Expansion Grants Totaling $63 Million: NTIA announced grants totaling $63 million to expand broadband access and adoption in Massachusetts, Michigan and North Carolina. Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, NTIA’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) provides grants to support the deployment of broadband infrastructure in unserved and underserved areas, enhance and expand public computer centers, and encourage sustainable adoption of broadband service. NTIA now announces that $18 million has been approved for fiscal year 2010 grants. (PDF 48 KB) Press Release: NTIA Awards Grants for Broadband Mapping and Planning in 10 States: NTIA today announced that it has awarded grants to fund broadband mapping and planning activities in Connecticut, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas under NTIA’s State Broadband Data and Development Grant Program. The program, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will increase broadband access and adoption through better data collection and broadband planning. The meeting will be held on February 4, 2010, at the U. S. Department of Commerce, Washington, DC. The OSTWG will hear presentations and have discussions on online safety and technology, with an emphasis on issues relevant to the work of the subcommittees on data retention and child pornography reporting. BroadbandMatch allows potential applicants to find partners for broadband projects, helping them to combine expertise and create stronger proposals.
