Prior to this year the teachers would monitor the lab where the internet was used and the students would not knowingly go somewhere on the internet because of fear of being caught. This year we began using filtering software as a trial because it came loaded with our Firewall that we installed. After one year of this test we decided to continue with the filtering and pay for the updates to the software. The teachers still monitor the lab, but the software is always "on" and monitoring the entire system. We use the filtering that Sonicwall provides and have found it extremely adequate. We can choose different settings on it and choose to "unlock" some domains if we feel it is necessary. I have yet to find any that need to be "unlocked" for educational purposes. The software also eliminates any children accidently typing in the wrong domain name and ending up in a pornagraphic site. I highly recommend filtering for education and for library access. If you need more information about the software we use it can be found at www.sonicwall.com Thank you for your time and effort in this project. Sincerely, Regina Montgomery Technology Coordinator St Pius X School Urbandale, IA
