1710 - 1755 MHz Background
On February 16, 2007 the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) submitted its report “Commercial Spectrum Enhancement Act Report to Congress on Agency Plans For Spectrum Relocation Funds” to Congress requesting $1,008,552,502 for 1990 frequency assignments be transferred from the relocation fund. After 30 days, OMB made Advanced Wireless Services auction funds available to the agencies for relocation. It is necessary to update the relocation information that is currently available to make it consistent with relocation information in the OMB report. This updated relocation information is being provided to the public to help ensure a smooth transition of federal systems out of the 1710-1755 MHz band. The updates to the relocation information include: 1) a reduction in the number of total assignments from 2060 to 1990, 2) revisions to specific relocation data fields such as location, frequency of operation, and relocation timeframe for a limited number of assignments, and 3) revisions to the points of contacts for various agencies. It should be noted that this updated relocation information will not include any cost data since this is addressed in the OMB report. |
