Office of Policy Analysis and
Development NTIA's Office of Policy Analysis and Development (OPAD) supports the Assistant Secretary's role as the President's principal advisor on telecommunications and information policies. OPAD creates and reviews national policies that promote innovation, competition, jobs, and economic growth for the benefit of American businesses and consumers. These policies impact how Americans access and use the Internet, wireless services, traditional telephone service, and video programming. Specific issues include, for example, developing programs to ensure that all Americans have access to broadband services, protecting people's privacy and keeping children safe on the Internet, and facilitating competition in the telecommunications and information industries. To further NTIA's mission, OPAD performs groundbreaking research; files reports, letters and formal comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) or other regulatory bodies; and proposes and responds to federal legislation. OPAD also coordinates public discussions to facilitate better dialogue on telecommunications and information matters. |
