The Search Engine allows for complex searches based on user determined keywords as well as predefined pop-up menus. Up to three
keywords can be entered. The pop-up menus are for application area,
state, and year.
Keywords are connected either by an "AND" or by an "OR." The default is "AND." Thus, if you do not indicate "OR," a keyword entry of telemedicine for keyword 1 and rural for keyword 2 would retrieve records for all projects containing both telemedicine AND rural.
You can, of course, select "OR" — in this case, a keyboard entry of telemedicine for keyword 1 and rural for keyword 2 would retrieve records for all projects containing either telemedicine OR rural.
Keywords are not required for searches. The pop-up menu allows a
listing of all records by state and/or year funded. Also, the pop-up menus serve as a mechanism to refine the search further. For example, if you wish to find information on projects involving Portland, Maine, but not Portland, Oregon, you would choose Portland as a keyword and select Maine from the state pop-up menu. Key words are not required.
