Kansas

Kansas Office of Information Technology Services

Kansas will use its existing Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee (SIEC) and Office of Emergency Communications to implement the State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP).  The State intends to update its Statewide Communication Interoperability Plan as part of the process, and plans to use a new working group and its existing homeland security regions as the primary vehicles for education and outreach to local jurisdictions.  Kansas has four federally recognized tribes and recently added the Kansas Native American Affairs office to the SIEC. The State intends to work with the Kansas Tribal Liaison Office to engage tribes in public safety broadband planning efforts, including face-to-face meetings.
