South Dakota Bureau of Information and Telecommunications
South Dakota will use the existing South Dakota Public Safety Communications Council (SDPSCC) and the soon-to-be established Broadband Subcommittee to implement the State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP). The State intends to update its Statewide Communication Interoperability Plan as part of the process, and plans to utilize its six existing emergency management regions and three regional coordinators as the primary vehicles for education and outreach to local jurisdictions. A tribal representative from the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe regularly attends SDPSCC meetings, and the State has previously worked with its nine federally recognized tribes through the Office of Tribal Relations. South Dakota will continue to leverage these existing relationships to engage tribes in public safety broadband planning efforts.
