American Broadband Initiative

NTIA plays a leadership role in the American Broadband Initiative (ABI) working with more than 25 federal agencies on strategies for increasing efficiency in government broadband programs. The ABI objectives are built on three core principles:

  • Government processes should be clear, transparent, and responsive to stakeholders.
  • Federal assets should provide the greatest possible benefit to stakeholders and the public.
  • The federal government should be a good steward of taxpayer funds.

Thank you for inviting me to speak with you today. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. At NTIA, most of our employees continue to telework, but we have maintained full continuity of our operations across our offices. NTIA, of course, has long recognized the importance of broadband. The Internet is an engine for innovation and growth and is critical to full participation in the 21st century economy.
