Alaska Broadband Summit and Workshop
ANCHORAGE – The National Telecommunications and Information Administration and Senator Dan Sullivan in coordination with, the State of Alaska, the Alaska Municipal League, and the Alaska Federation of Natives will host a summit on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, on the implementation of the Internet for All initiative in Alaska. Federal, state, and local government officials along with Tribal and industry representatives and other stakeholders will meet to discuss how they will connect Alaskans to affordable and reliable high-speed internet.
The summit is open to press and there will be a press availability with federal and state officials.
Summit programming includes an overview of the Internet for All initiative, including the $48 billion funded through the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, identifying Alaska’s unserved locations, and workforce development related to implementing high-speed internet.
The State of Alaska recently signed onto the Biden-Harris Administration’s Internet for All initiative and will receive a minimum of $100 million in funding for efficient and effective implementation expansion of broadband high-speed internet expansion. This investment will be transformational for the future of Alaska’s economy – enabling students and workers to pursue remote learning opportunities, create access to high-paying remote jobs, and expand increase accessibility to healthcare through telehealth services.
