NTIA’s BroadbandUSA initiative presents this guide to key federal programs that offer funding for broadband-related projects.  NTIA intends this guide to answer questions from communities on how to access federal funding to support broadband planning, public access, digital literacy, adoption, and deployment.

On March 23, 2015, President Obama signed a Presidential Memorandum “Expanding Broadband Deployment and Adoption by Addressing Regulatory Barriers and Encouraging Investment and Training.”

NTIA provides quarterly reports on all aspects of the proposed transition of the U.S. government’s stewardship role over the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions. NTIA’s previous reports are posted here. This third report covers activities from April 1, 2015 through June 30, 2015. As required by Public Law 113-235, NTIA will update this report on a quarterly basis.

Pursuant to Section 6001(d)(4) of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA or Recovery Act) (Public Law No. 111-5), NTIA provides this Quarterly Report on the status of the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program. This Report focuses on the Program’s activities from October 1 to December 31, 2014.

NTIA’s previous report and detailed background is here. This second report covers activities from February 1, 2015 through March 31, 2015. As required by Public Law 113-235, NTIA will update this report on a quarterly basis.

NTIA submits this Fifth Interim Progress Report in response to the Presidential Memorandum issued on June 28, 2010.  The 2010 Presidential Memorandum directed the Secretary of Commerce, working through NTIA and in collaboration with the FCC, to identify and make available 500 megahertz of federal and non-federal spectrum by 2020 for expanded wireless broadband use.   This report covers the period from October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014.

This Report focuses on the Program’s activities from July 1 to September 30, 2014.

Section 207 of the Commercial Spectrum Enhancement Act (CSEA), Title II of P.L. 108-494 requires annual reporting on federal agencies’ progress to vacate certain wireless communications systems from the 1710 MHz to 1755 MHz radio spectrum that has been reallocated to commercial use. NTIA published the first annual report to Congress on April 17, 2008. That report covered relocation activity occurring over the period March 2007 through December 2007. This annual report documents the cumulative progress since the commencement of relocation activity in March 2007 through December 2014.

The attached report provides background on the Internet domain name system (DNS) and NTIA’s role, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions, NTIA’s call for a transition proposal, status of the multi-stakeholder community’s efforts in response, and next steps.  The report covers activities through January 31, 2015.  NTIA will update this report on a quarterly basis.
