In response to requests for additional time, the Department of Commerce is extending the closing deadline for submitting comments to a request for public comments entitled “The Benefits, Challenges, and Potential Roles for the Government in Fostering the Advancement of the Internet of Things.” 82 FR 4313 (Jan. 13, 2017).
Notice of Workshop on Tactical Encryption and Key Management
The Institute for Telecommunication Sciences (ITS) of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), U.S. Department of Commerce, will host a two-day workshop on Tactical Encryption and Key Management. The goal of the workshop is to identify solutions to the problem of how to dynamically key and re-key different groups with varying levels of access and for varying lengths of time using existing infrastructure or over an ad hoc network that is reliable and user friendly. The workshop will be held on February 15-16, 2017, from 8:00 a.m.

Notice of Proposed Information Collection; Comment Request; Computer and Internet Use Supplement
NTIA proposes to add 58 questions to the U.S. Census Bureau's November 2017 Current Population Survey (CPS) to gather reliable data on broadband (also known as high-speed Internet) use by U.S. households through the Computer and Internet Use Supplement (“the Supplement”). The planned Supplement will be the fourteenth since NTIA began sponsoring such surveys in November 1994. Since that time, NTIA has continually revised the Supplement to reflect developments in Internet technology, applications, and connected devices.
BroadbandUSA Webinar Series
NTIA, as part of its BroadbandUSA program, will host a series of webinars on a monthly basis to engage the public and stakeholders with information to accelerate broadband access, improve digital inclusion, strengthen policies, and support local community priorities. The webinar series will provide ongoing source information on the range of topics and issues being addressed by BroadbandUSA, including best practices for improving broadband deployment, digital literacy, and e-government.
