NTIA today filed a petition asking the FCC to modify its rules to allow airport service vehicles to be equipped with transmitters that would permit air traffic control to identify and control these vehicles, thereby reducing the risk of aircraft colliding with vehicles on the airport surface.

NTIA proposes certain changes affecting its Digital-To-Analog Converter Box Coupon Program rules such as waiving the "eligible household" application requirements for individuals residing in nursing homes or other senior care facilities. Comments must be submitted by 5 p.m. EST, no later than June 9, 2008.

NTIA will hold a public meeting on February 28, 2008, to discuss the mid-term review of the Joint Project Agreement (JPA) between the Department and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The meeting will be held on February 28, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m.

NTIA has published a notice announcing a public meeting of the Spectrum Management Advisory Committee (Committee). The meeting will be held at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Institute for Telecommunication Sciences in Boulder, Colorado, on February 8, 2008, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.

NTIA will hold a public meeting in connection with its TV Converter Box Coupon Program at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, DC, on January 24, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.

NTIA has published a notice to announce the effective date of a Privacy Act System of Records entitled COMMERCE/NTIA-1, Applications Related to Coupons for Digital-to-Analog Converter Boxes. This new system of records is necessary to identify those households that qualify for and receive coupons towards the purchase of a digital-to-analog converter box.

The Federal Register notice announces the Department of Commerce's (Department) proposal for a new system of records under the Privacy Act. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is creating a new system of records for applications related to coupons for the Digital-to-Analog Converter Box program.

The NTIA and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a Public Notice that the Joint Advisory Committee on Communications Capabilities of Emergency Medical and Public Health Care Facilities (“Joint Committee”) will hold its second meeting on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Commission Meeting Room (TW-C305), Federal Communications Commission, 445 12th Street, SW, Washington, DC 20554.

NTIA and the FCC are establishing the Joint Advisory Committee on Communications Capabilities of Emergency Medical and Public Health Care Facilities.

On July 23, 2007, NTIA published a Notice of Availability of Funds in the Federal Register, 72 Fed. Reg. 40120, for the Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) Grant Program. On August 3, 2007, the President signed into law the Improving Emergency Communications Act of 2007, Pub. L. No. 110-53, which amended Section 3006 of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 that authorized the PSIC Grant Program. This Notice provides amendments to PSIC Grant Program Notice of Availability of Funds.
