State and Local Implementation Grant Program Federal Funding Opportunity
NTIA issues this Federal Funding Opportunity to describe the requirements under which NTIA will award grants for the State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP), authorized by section 6302 of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012, to assist State, local, and tribal governments with planning for a nationwide interoperable public safety broadband network. Applications will be accepted from February 6, 2013 until March 19, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 appropriated $4.7 billion for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to establish the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). As required by the Act, NTIA designed this grant program to increase broadband access and adoption; provide broadband training and support to schools, libraries, healthcare providers, and other organizations; improve broadband access to public safety agencies; and stimulate demand for broadband.
