Join NTIA's Assistant Secretary Alan Davidson and the Detroit Mayor's Office for a Community Conversation on Digital Equity, Job Creation, and Entrepreneurship at the Public Safety Headquarters in Detroit, Michigan, on August 28, 2024, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM ET.

It will bring together community leaders, nonprofit advocates, entrepreneurs, and academic allies to highlight digital equity milestones and efforts to create economic opportunities. This event will be livestreamed and open to press.

Summary

This notice announces a public meeting for providing input to spectrum band studies directed by the National Spectrum Strategy and National Spectrum Strategy Implementation Plan, which instructed the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to establish a multistakeholder forum for non-Federal stakeholders to engage with the Federal agencies conducting the studies. This is the first of what NTIA expects will be a series of public multistakeholder meetings held approximately every other month.

Today, NTIA is issuing policy recommendations in support of making the key components of powerful AI models widely available. These “open-weight” models allow developers to build upon and adapt previous work, broadening AI tools’ availability to small companies, researchers, nonprofits, and individuals.

Complete applications from Eligible Entities, including Indian Tribes, Alaska Native entities, and Native Hawaiian organizations (“Native Entities”) must be received through the NTIA Grants Portal no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on September 23, 2024.
