Shinnecock Indian Nation

The project proposes the following activities designed to improve access to, and use of, broadband services among Tribal members:

Construct a new indefeasible right to use middle mile network to connect the Shinnecock Territory with a major Internet facility.
Construct 2 new towers, each 150-foot monopoles with a communications shelter. Each monopole will provide 360-degree radio coverage that will connect households that cannot access fiber. Additionally, each communications shelter is prefabricated with redundant HVAC, battery service, and a back-up generator.
Construct fiber backbone and distribution network and fixed wireless distribution.

This project will:

Connect 301 unserved Native American households and 60 near-territory households, government buildings, and anchor institutions providing 536 Native American-enrolled members with qualifying, resilient, and robust broadband with fiber speeds of up to 1 Gbps and fixed wireless speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
Create 2 new full-time jobs – 1 in information technologies and 1 in administrative/customer service.
Expand telehealth, distance education, remote work, digital systems inclusion, and economic development opportunities.

The project intends to benefit Tribal residents, students, educators, employers, employees, and health care providers and their patients.
